  • Interior & Architectural Photography

Interior photography with a focus on design, light and the character of a space.

I’m an interior photographer based in Somerset, working with architects, interior designers, makers, businesses and independent brands across the South West and throughout the UK.

My approach is led by the design of the space itself – its architecture, materials, details and, particularly, the way light moves through it. I look for compositions that show the overall design as well as the smaller decisions that give an interior its character.

Depending on the project, that can mean carefully composed architectural photographs, details of materials and finishes, or wider images that show how different elements of a space work together. Where appropriate, I also like to include people. A figure within an interior can give a sense of scale and purpose, and show how a space is actually experienced rather than presenting it simply as an empty room.

I photograph residential and commercial interiors, architecture, hospitality spaces, shops, workplaces and the work of designers and makers. Images can be created for portfolios, editorial, awards submissions, websites, social media, PR and marketing.

I’m also a drone pilot so can take aerial imagery if required.

I’m based in Somerset and regularly work across Frome, Bath, Bristol, Yeovil, Taunton and the wider South West, as well as travelling throughout the UK.

If you have a space or design project you’d like photographed, please do get in touch.

  • Nick Kingsley music studio

Capturing the feel and details of a studio design

Nick Kingsley is an Emmy award winning music producer and he commissioned Sara Mellone to design his new music studio – a space where creativity can flow in a relaxed atmosphere.

  • Garden Office Design

Photographing a garden office for the interior designer

Sara Mellone is a designer who wanted imagery for a recent home office studio project. The challenge was to create a sunny airy feeling on a dull grey day whilst working in a very small space.

  • Spirals Bruton

    Detailing bespoke furniture

Photographing a homewares shop for the interior designer – featuring bespoke units that connect without fixings. Working in a small space with mixed lighting.

  • Well Street

    Property photography

The objective was to capture the details and spaces of an architect designed home sold on The Modern House. I wanted to integrate some motion and presence to show the lifestyle of the space without setting specific people into frame.

  • Swedish summers

A snapshot into a version of our life that we chose to remember

This project tries to capture the hard-to-pin down ideas of national romanticism, family and belonging that underpins Swedish culture. As our children decamp to Sweden for their summers – slotting into different rules, language and environment – their memories will be tempered by this alternative reality. This project then, is a snapshot into a version of our life that we chose to remember.

In the tales we weave and the whispers between generations we remember and tell stories to anchor us to a culture and place that has moulded us. We ignite a deep-seated yearning to return, revisit, and remember, quite what we’re never entirely sure – for it is illusive.

    A Collection of landscapes

Walking through woodlands with a pub at the end.

Driving country roads and catching glimpses of valleys that can stretch for miles.

  • Interacted landscapes

    Personal project / wip

I wanted to create a collection of photos that depict our relationship with nature in all its permutations. Our stewardship, encroachment, preservation and destruction that comes from human existence.

This is a work in progress.

  • Gare Hill

    Forest school

In a wild woodland designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty lies the base-camps for various forest-schools – places for children to learn and play in amongst nature. This project captures this empty playground.

To capture a glamourised childlike memory of what this place might feel like to a child. Using beams of sunlight to paint soft patches of gold and paths along the woodland floor. To showcase a sanctuary of wonder and enchantment.
