Event photography that captures what it actually feels like to be there

I photograph events across Somerset, Bristol, the South West and throughout the UK – capturing the people, atmosphere and moments that tell the story of an event.

For me, good event photography isn’t just about recording what happened, it’s about capturing the feel of an event – the atmosphere and the energy. Images that can take you back there, or give someone who wasn’t there a real sense of what it was like.

My background in documentary filmmaking has a big influence on how I approach events: looking for narratives, perspectives and contexts that add an additional dimension to the imagery.

Alongside candid event photography, I can capture speakers, performers, guests, branding, venues, details and more structured portraits where required – creating a varied collection of images suitable for press, PR, websites, social media, marketing and future event promotion.

I work with businesses, agencies, brands, organisations and independent events, either directly or as part of a wider production or marketing team.

Based in Somerset and available for event photography in Bristol, Bath, Frome, Yeovil, Taunton and across the South West, as well as assignments throughout the UK.

  • Bullzini family circus 2023

    Capturing performance moments

Walking the high-wire is more than a performance for Chris Bullzini – it’s a profound, meditative and transformative experience, both for himself and his audience. He’s a modern-day high-wire mystic, who’s journey began at the age of eleven with a book on meditation, setting him on a lifelong quest for truth and transcendence. As a teenager, he discovered the circus through juggling, and in the high-wire, he found the perfect union of physical mastery and meditative focus. His journey has taken him across 30 countries where his performances evoke wonder and emotion, reminding us of the delicate balance of life and the power of human potential.

This show was performed at his circus yard in Evercreech alongside a family of performers.

  • Bridgwater carnival 2024

    Photographing Bridgwater carnival

Bridgwater Carnival is the UK’s oldest and largest illuminated carnival, tracing its roots back to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 and the nationwide tradition of bonfire celebrations on November 5th. The town’s fervent observance of this event evolved into a grand spectacle. The carnival’s modern form emerged in 1881 following riots the previous year, prompting the formation of an official committee to organize a structured parade. A pivotal moment came in 1883 when the event was paired with the opening of a new town bridge, marked by a dramatic firework display. To fund this, the first Carnival Concert was held—a tradition that continues to support the event to this day. Now an iconic part of Somerset’s heritage, Bridgwater Carnival blends history, community spirit, and dazzling creativity, earning the town its title as the “Home of Carnival.”

  • Halloween party

    Capturing a community event

I was simply asked to ‘take some photos for future memories’. I decided to capture the atmosphere through a series of portraits.

I chose to use a diffused fill-in flash and a slower shutter to introduce colours and spill from the DJ lights. For some shots I used a 1 second shutter and shook and span the camera to create streaks of movement and light in and around the subject.
